Virginia House Bill 1382, which would have banned the declawing of cats statewide, was narrowly voted down in the House Agriculture Subcommittee this week.
Alley Cat Allies provided testimony and rallied Virginians in support of the bill. Though this is a disappointing setback, we are not giving up. Alley Cat Allies is committed to outlawing this cruel, needless procedure in Virginia and in every state across the nation. New bills to ban declawing have just been introduced in Arizona and New Hampshire, and we will support them every step of the way.
